Monks Rally Past Owls, 3-1

WATERVILLE, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (1-5) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat UMaine-Presque Isle (0-4), 3-1 (25-27, 25-13, 25-22, 25-16), in a non-conference volleyball match at Colby College on Saturday afternoon.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's held the lead in kills (43-30), attack percentage (.110 - .042), assists (42-30), aces (15-11), digs (103-90), and blocks (9-2) in the victory.

LEADERS:

  • Freshman Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) notched a double-double with 10 kills and 22 digs with three total blocks
  • Freshman Sierra Burns (Peyton, Colo.) belted seven service aces with 22 digs
  • Freshman Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) posted a .375 attack rate with seven kills, four digs, and four total blocks
  • Sophomore Sam Holland (Gilmanton, N.H.) added 23 digs and a pair of aces
  • Junior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) delivered 18 assists and 14 digs
  • Junior Isabel Philbrick (Milford, N.H.) chipped in with six kills and three block assists
  • Freshman Allison McMullen (Jacksonville, Fla.) contributed with seven kills
  • Junior Amanda Darby (Shrewsbury, Mass.) recorded 14 assists, three aces, and nine digs

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Saturday when the Monks play host to UMaine-Presque Isle and NVU-Lyndon in a non-conference tri-match. St. Joe's faces UMPI at 11:00 AM and NVU-Lyndon at 3:00 PM. The Owls and Hornets face off in the middle match at 1:00 PM.
