One of the finest infielders to ever don the Monks' uniform, Fitzgerald hit .327 (157-480) with 122 runs, 26 doubles, 11 triples, 12 home runs, 102 RBI and 38 stolen bases in 146 career games and helped lead Saint Joseph's to NAIA New England Championships in 1986 and 1988

Following the 1986 season, he garnered NAIA All-America, All-Area, and All-District accolades after hitting .350 (48-137) with 37 runs, nine doubles, four triples, seven home runs, 39 RBI and five stolen bases as a sophomore

Upon graduation, the four-year starting shortstop ranked in the top five in virtually every offensive category and was the program's career leader in games, at bats, and runs

At the time of his induction, Fitzgerald remains among the Monks' all-time leaders in runs, triples, and stolen bases
