Furbush throws complete-game shut out

STANDISH, MAINE - In the first game, freshman Charlie Furbush ( South Portland , ME ) tossed nine shutout innings, striking out 10 and senior Derek McIntosh (Auburn, ME) homered in the fifth inning to seal a 4-0 St. Joe's victory over visiting Husson College.

The Monks scored two runs in the first inning and added another run in the third. McIntosh gave St. Joe's another insurance run in the fifth with a solo home run. Freshmen Luke Enman ( Milan , NH ) and Brian Schools ( Gorham , ME ) had two singles apiece for St. Joe's.

Husson gets 10-3 win in game two

Husson jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, scoring two runs in the first, 1 run in the second, and two runs in the third inning. St. Joe's mounted a comeback in the third as Schools scored off a McIntosh single. Enman hit a home run in the fourth inning and McIntosh scored in the fifth to make it 5-3.

The big blow came in the sixth inning as Jason Harvey hit a 3 run homer and Husson added two more runs to extend their lead to 10-3. St. Joe's was held hitless over the final innings.

The Monks play Colby at home on Wednesday 4/13 at 5PM.
