STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College (13-7) swept Friday's
doubleheader against Maine Presque Isle 6-0 and 13-0.
In game one, freshman Miles
Johnson (Berwick, ME) retired the side in the
third inning and finished with 8 strikeouts in five innings.
Johnson allowed only one hit to pitcher Chris
Saucier in the fourth inning.
Freshman Andrew Dvilinsky
(Portland, ME) reached on a walk and scored as freshman
Matt Shanahan flew out to right
field.
Senior captain Andy Exley
(Portland, ME) had one of his four hits to lead off a four-run
third inning for the Monks as Exley, freshman
Luke Enman (Enfield, NH), senior
Derek McIntosh (Auburn, ME) and
freshman Charlie Furbush (South
Portland, ME) all scored to make it 5-0.
Freshman Adam Cousins
(Brooksville, ME) gave St. Joe's a 6-0 lead after scoring off an
Exley single in the fifth inning.

Portland, ME) had two hits for the Monks.
Vasil Hurls No Hitter
Senior Matt Vasil (Enfield, NH)
struckout 11 batters and pitched a complete game shutout to give
St. Joe's a 13-0 victory in game two. Vasil
retired the side in the sixth inning and gave up no hits in his
first victory of the season.
St. Joe's scored three runs in the first and second innings and the
offense kept the heat on the UMPI pitching staff for the entire
game. Senior Derek McIntosh hit a
two RBI homer in the second inning scoring
Exley.
The Monks made it 11-0 in the third inning, with 5 runs, and then
added two more runs in the fifth when senior Jack
Hughes (Dudley, MA) drove in
McIntosh and junior Aaron
Cieslak (Windham, ME) with a single.
St. Joe's is on the road this weekend for a 1:00 PM doubleheader at
Becker College (Mass.) on Saturday and a 12:00 PM doubleheader at
Elms College (Mass.) on Sunday.
