Harwich, Massachusetts - In the 2006 NCAA Division III Eastern College Athletic Conference Baseball Regional, #2 seed Saint Joseph's College (34-8-1) defeated #7 seed Bowdoin College (28-9-1) by a score of 9-7 to advance in the winners bracket. The Monks and Polar Bears had met once during the regular season and played to a 4-4 tie, the game being called by officials due to darkness and rain.

Bowdoin will play at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow vs. #3 seed Middlebury (24-10), while St. Joe's will take the field at 1 p.m. to face #6 seed Western New England (34-10).

Bowdoin scored five runs in the second inning to jump out to an early lead over St. Joseph's, leading by as many as six by the third inning, as St. Joe's took the plate. The Monks battled back and overcame the deficit by the fourth. In the top of the seventh, after a pitching change by Bowdoin, the Monks took their first lead of the game on a two-run homer by Luke Enman, hit on the first pitch, that went deep to center field (well over 410 feet), lifting the Monks to 7-6.
