Stephens Tabbed as MCBSA Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior infielder Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) has been picked as the MCBSA Player of the Week.

Stephens hit .438 (7-16) with three runs, two doubles, a triple, a home run, and three RBI in a 2-3 week for Saint Joseph's. The senior infielder was 3-4 with two runs, a double, a triple, and an RBI in a 13-6 victory over Emerson on Wednesday and went 2-4 with a solo home run in a 5-4 loss to Springfield on Thursday.

For Stephens, this counts as his first weekly honor since being named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week on April 19th, 2021.

In 99 career games, Stephens is hitting .276 (80-290) with 15 doubles, four triples, six home runs, and 52 RBI. As one of the Monks' top relievers, he is 8-5 with 12 saves, a 3.63 ERA, and 64 strikeouts – versus 23 walks – in 67 innings across 39 career appearances on the mound.

Saint Joseph's kicks off GNAC action with a pair of games at Mitchell College on Saturday. The first game is set to start at 12:00 PM.
