STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Will Sanborn is pleased to announce his incoming recruiting class.
This fall the Monks will welcome 12 newcomers to the program as eight freshmen and four transfers look to make an impact during the non-traditional season.
The incoming group features players from six different states and another from South Africa and includes four infielders, four pitchers, three catchers, and a utility player. The new faces will be asked to help replace the output put forth by the 2023 graduates, a crew that included three starting position players and a pair of pitchers who combined to make 25 appearances last spring.
"I'm excited about our core group of returning players, and this group of first year guys should really add to the mix," adds Coach Sanborn. "This is a talented group of baseball players who are great character guys and excellent students. I look for them to gel with the returners quickly and contribute to our success right away."

Brady Cabral Why Saint Joseph's? I decided to attend after talking with Coach Sanborn over the past summer. SJC had everything I wanted. A small campus with many friendly people and wonderful staff. Amazing business programs with very nice internship programs, incredible sports teams, and much more to offer. It was just the absolute perfect mix for me. I'm glad to call it home for the next four years. Victor Caira Why Saint Joseph's? I chose Saint Josephs because of the atmosphere/community. On my visit, my tour guide was super genuine, and every person we ran into he knew and was the same way. I also could tell how much Saint Joseph's cares about their students, which really put the option to the top for me. High School: Played four years of baseball and basketball and two years of football at Newton North High School…Earned the "Team Above Self" Award in all sports as a senior and given the Howard Ferguson Memorial Scholarship…Played club for Boston Prime for two years, Minutemen for three years, and Triple Crown for two years…Listed on the Academic Honor Roll. Matt Elwell Why Saint Joseph's? When I came to the prospect camp, Coach Sanborn and the players on the team were all very nice. I really liked the location and the looks of the campus. High School: Played four years of baseball and hockey and two years of golf at Wakefield Memorial High School…Earned All-Star honors in baseball as a junior and hockey as a senior…Struck out only five times during his entire high school career…Played club for Show Baseball for three years and Antonelli Baseball for one year…Listed on the Academic Honor Roll. Tyler Helbert Why Saint Joseph's? I chose Saint Joseph's due to the friendly atmosphere on campus, the culture of the baseball team, and because of the great fishing so close to the college. Before St. Joe's: Was a member of the Eastern Texas Baptist University baseball team in 2020 and the Mary Baldwin University program in 2023...Battled through injuries between stops. High School: Played varsity baseball at Patriot High School in Nokesville, Virginia…Led his team in home runs as a senior. Community Service: Coached baseball camps for the youth in the area. Liam Jann Why Saint Joseph's: I decided to attend Saint Joseph's College for the beautiful campus, the feeling of being home, and the great baseball I could play here. Before St. Joe's: Played two years at Southern Maine Community College…Earned 2023 YSCC Pitcher of the Year, 2023 USCC All-Conference, and 2023 YSCC Tournament MVP honors after posting a 2.73 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and 53 K's and 20 walks in 66 innings last spring…Listed on the Dean's List both years. Jamison Nystrom Why Saint Joseph's? I decided to come to St. Joe's due to the good baseball program and the nice community feel. High School: Played baseball, football, and basketball at Bellows Falls Union High School…Played in the Twin State Senior Game and a two-time First Team All-SVL honoree…As a standout quarterback for the football team he played in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl and the North/South All-Star Game…He also garnered First Team All-State honors and led his team to a pair of State Championships…As a four-year varsity basketball player he was a two-time Dream Dozen selection and was picked to play in the North/South All-Star Game…Listed on the Academic Honor Roll as a senior. Anthony Sayers Why Saint Joseph's? After speaking to Coach Sanborn on various occasions Saint Joseph's felt like the right fit for me, with a great baseball program. Before St. Joe's: Played two years at Southern Maine Community College, where he hit .343 with 33 runs, 12 doubles, and 40 RBI in 35 games as a freshman and .267 with 26 runs, six doubles, three home runs, and 23 RBI as a sophomore…On the mound, Sayers notched five saves while fanning 32 batters and walking only six with a 2.57 ERA over 21 innings as a freshman…Earned USCAA Baseball Player of the Week honors and helped the Seawolves win a pair of YSCC titles. Luke Wearne Why Saint Joseph's? For the strong academics, athletics, and the welcoming community. Before St. Joe's: Played one year for Head Coach Nic Lops '15 at Southern Maine Community College…Hit .337 (30-89) with 23 runs, five doubles, 25 RBI, and five stolen bases in 29 games. High School: Played baseball for four years and hockey for two years at East Catholic High School…Played in the Senior All-Star Game in 2022 and helped his team win the State Championship as a junior…Listed on the Academic Honor Roll.
