AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Illinois Wesleyan (6-3) defeated Saint Joseph's College (1-5), 12-0, in RussMatt Central Florida baseball action at the Lake Myrtle Complex on Monday.
The Titans, who stomped Stockton yesterday by a 21-6 margin, continued to swing hot bats with 12 runs on 14 hits, including 12 singles. On the flip side, the Monks had trouble generating offense with only four hits in the shutout setback.
Sophomore center fielder Jared Wilhelm (Tolland, Conn.) was 2-2 with a stolen base and senior Luke Stephens (Glastonbury, Conn.) was 1-1 with a walk in the losing bid.
Freshman starting pitcher Josh Wieners (Duxbury, Mass.) took the loss after allowing eight runs on six hits, three walks, and three hit batsmen with a pair of strikeouts in two innings. Stephens, sophomore Brendan McCaffrey (Warwick, R.I.), senior Matt Thibault (Nashua, N.H.), and senior Morgen Doughty (Smithfield, R.I.) combined to allow three earned runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts over four innings.
Saint Joseph's is back in action on Wednesday when the team faces Emerson College at Lake Myrtle Field #4 in a 9:45 AM start.
