SJC Men Place 10th at USCSA Eastern Regional Slalom Championship

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's alpine ski team placed 10th with a 4:57.57 composite time in the USCSA Eastern Regional Slalom Championship at Sugarloaf Mountain on Sunday.

With the finish, the Monks – who placed third in the slalom race on Saturday – finished sixth overall with 13 team place points and have qualified for the USCSA National Championships for the third-consecutive season. This year's national championship will take place at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York starting on Monday, March 4th.

Babson College took home the USCSA Eastern Regional Slalom Championship with a 4:27.99 total time, comfortably ahead of runner-up Vermont State University – Castleton, which posted a 4:33.54 team time. Clarkson University finished third (4:34.19), UMaine-Farmington was fourth (4:41.54), and Worcester Polytechnic Institute placed fifth (4:43.47).

Individually, Clarkson's Samuel Hayden earned the top prize with a 1:26.77 performance while Marin Vigneras of UMass.-Amherst was second (1:27.05) and Babson's Max Bellino (1:27.80) completed the podium.

FOR THE MONKS:

  • Junior Jacob Morris (Woodstock, N.H.) finished 23rd with a 1:35.30 (46.37, 48.93) effort
  • Sophomore Logan Davis (Naples, Maine) placed 27th with a 1:37.83 (49.20, 48.63) performance
  • Senior Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) was 35th (1:44.44, 57.17 / 47.27)
  • Senior Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) finished 49th (2:10.77, 1:21.30 / 49.47)
  • Sophomore Jack Price (Franconia, N.H.) was 10th on the first run (44.92) but DQ'ed on the second turn
