GNAC Tabs Eldridge & Barrett as Player, Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and two Saint Joseph's College men's lacrosse players have collected honors.

Senior midfielder Dalton Eldridge (South Gardiner, Maine) is the March 23rd GNAC Player of the Week and freshman attack Brendan Barrett (East Sandwich, Mass.) is the GNAC Rookie of the Week.

Eldridge led the Monks to a 3-0 week by scoring eight goals with seven assists for 15 total points while picking up 11 ground balls in the three victories. The senior captain kicked off the week with three goals, three assists, seven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers in a decisive win over Maine-Farmington on Monday and added a pair of goals with three assists in a 13-5 triumph over Thomas College on Thursday. He capped the week with three goals and a helper in a 13-7 victory over Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

Barrett totaled five goals and 12 assists for 17 total points in the Monks' three victories last week. The freshman attack scored twice with four assists versus Maine-Farmington on Monday and added a goal with five helpers in a conference triumph over Albertus Magnus College on Saturday.

Through six games for the 4-2 Monks, Eldridge ranks as the team-leader in goals (10), shots (44) and shots on goal (27) and ranks second in assists (11), points (21) and ground balls (26). The Player of the Week honor is a career-first for Eldridge and counts as the first GNAC top player accolade for an SJC men's lacrosse player since Jonathan Horgan '12 earned the same award on March 26th, 2012.

Barrett paces the Royal Blue in assists (18), points (25) and ground balls (28) through six contests. The first-year standout is the first SJC men's lacrosse player to earn GNAC Rookie accolades since Austin Watts collected the honor on April 15th, 2013.

Saint Joseph's will host non-conference opponent Husson University at 4:00 PM on Wednesday at Deering Memorial Stadium.
