STANDISH, Maine – The 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large Teams have been announced and three Saint Joseph's College men's lacrosse players have collected accolades.

Seniors Brannon Gilbert (Gray, Maine) and Ethan Richard (Litchfield, Maine) and sophomore Anthony Samiotes (Hampstead, N.H.) have earned the high academic honor for the first time.

To be nominated for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games/events. Student-athletes are not eligible until they have completed one full calendar year at their current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.

A Business and Sports Management major, Gilbert has been the Monks' starting goalkeeper in each of the last two seasons and served as a team captain during the 2023 campaign. As a senior, he posted a 9-5 record with a 10.83 goals against average, a .515 save percentage, and 140 saves in 731 minutes in net.

Richard, who triple-majored in Finance, Marketing, and International Business at Saint Joseph's, played in 14 games during his senior season while registering two assists, nine ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers with nine face-off wins in 26 attempts.

Samiotes, a Mathematics/Secondary Education major, is a two-year starting defender and two-time All-Conference selection. In 34 career games, he has tallied 123 ground balls and 69 caused turnovers.
