BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior Ryan Buonaiuto (Scituate, R.I.) scored in the 87th minute to lift #25 Saint Joseph's College (2-0) to a thrilling 1-0 victory over Endicott College (0-2) in non-conference men's soccer action on Sunday night.

THE LEAD

After being outshot by an 8-3 margin in the first half, the Monks evened up the stat sheet with a 7-3 shots advantage in the second stanza and managed to break the scoreless stalemate at the 86:04 mark. Junior Jackson Taylor (Gorham, Maine) set up the play with a slick right-to-left cross to Buonaiuto, who finished a chip to the left corner.

THE KEEPERS

SJC senior Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.) registered six saves to earn his second shutout of the season and 30th of his NCAA career. His counterpart, Endicott junior Jack Bacon (Lincoln, R.I.) made a pair of stops in the losing effort.

TEAM STATS

Endicott maintained an 11-10 edge in shots with a 6-3 lead in shots on goal and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING

With the victory, Saint Joseph's improves to 2-8 in the history of the series with Endicott College, a team the Monks had not defeated since the 2012 season prior to tonight's meeting.

The win also provided the Monks with the 2018 North Shore Invitational title, as Gordon College topped #4 Brandeis University – the other unbeaten team in round robin play - 3-2 in earlier action today.

OF NOTE

Three Saint Joseph's players garnered All-Tournament Team honors, as Buonaiuto, Taylor, and senior midfielder Rory Twomey (South Windsor, Conn.) claimed accolades.

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will host in-state rival Husson University on Tuesday. The home opener is slated for a 7:00 PM kick-off.
