Whaley Claims Fourth GNAC Top Rookie Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman Evan Whaley (Merrimack, N.H.) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Swimming Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Versus Husson University on Saturday, Whaley picked up a pair of wins with top finishes in the 400-IM (4:47.00) and 100-Free (53.32) events.

Whaley is enjoying a tremendous freshman season with 22 individual victories and four runner-up efforts in 27 races across eight events this season. His 1:53.65 time in the 200-Free and 5:15.36 effort in the 500-Free both rank fifth in the conference, as of January 26th, this winter.

The freshman standout also collected the GNAC top rookie honor on November 4th, November 18th, and November 25th.

The Monks will compete in the GNAC Championship at the Wellesley Sports Center this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
