SJC Men Capture 2023 GNAC Outdoor Championship!!

STANDISH, Maine – The 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships were hosted at the SJC Athletics Complex on the campus of Saint Joseph's College on Sunday.

On the men's side, Saint Joseph's claimed the title with 213 points while Regis finished second with 185 points. Colby-Sawyer (138), Lasell (56), and Emmanuel (50) rounded out the list of five competing institutions in this year's GNAC Championship.

Emmanuel College edged Regis College for the women's championship, as the Saints concluded the event with 175 points and the Pride finished with 167 points. Colby-Sawyer College (119 points), Saint Joseph's (104), and Lasell University (75) rounded out the team scoring ledger.

BROKEN GNAC RECORDS:

  • Colby-Sawyer's Dylan Flewelling, Aidan Weagle, Jesse Gushee, and Hayden Goyette won the 4x800-meter relay (8:33.15), breaking the 2019 mark set by Saint Joseph's (8:34.44)
  • Regis freshman Justin Thuotte won the triple jump (12.52m), breaking the former mark of 12.33m set by SJC's Alex Fitzgerald in 2019
  • Regis freshman Conrad Kalinowski won the pole vault (3.50m), eclipsing the previous record of 3.40m set by Colby-Sawyer's Drew Doughty in 2022

Saint Joseph's College:

Regis College:

  • Sophomore Benjamin Happenny won the 1500-meter run (4:22.93) and placed third in the 800-meter run (2:11.45)
  • Freshman Justin Thuotte won the long jump (6.21m) and triple jump (12.52m) events and placed third in the high jump (1.75m)
  • Freshman Conrad Kalinowski won the pole vault (3.50m), hammer throw (33.11m), and shot put (10.78m) events and finished third in the javelin throw (39.27m)
  • Freshman Harry Grayson was second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.96)
  • Junior Brett Kiesel was second in the javelin throw (44.98m) and shot put (10.34m) events and finished third in the pole vault (2.30m)
  • Sophomore Zach Sigman was third in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:51.96)
  • Sophomore Aiden Charles finished second in the hammer throw (32.78m) and third in the 110-meter hurdles (17.36)
  • Freshman Riley Stogsdill was third in the 400-meter dash (54.20)
  • Sophomore Christopher Margiatto placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.09)
  • Brett Kiesel, Christopher Margiatto, Zach Olayiwole, and Riley Stogsdill finished second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:52.57)
  • Riley Stogsdill, AJ Corso, Christopher Margiatto, and Benjamin Happenny raced to a second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (8:41.04)
  • Harry Grayson, Justin Thuotte, Zach Olayiwole, and Conrad Kalinowski placed third in the 4x100-meter relay (45.39)

Colby-Sawyer College:

  • Junior Chase Adams won the 110-meter hurdles (15.71) and 400-meter hurdles (57.53) events
  • Freshman John Davis placed first in the 100-meter dash (11.42) and second in the 200-meter dash (23.69)
  • Sophomore Hayden Goyette won the 800-meter run (2:05.28)
  • Junior Jesse Gushee won the 5000-meter run (17:14.33) and was the runner-up in the 800-meter run (2:07.09)
  • Junior Jordan Piechowski finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:43.91)
  • Sophomore Drew Doughty placed second in the pole vault (2.90m)
  • Sophomore Jordan Kofos was third in the 100-meter dash (11.64)
  • Dylan Flewelling, Aidan Weagle, Jesse Gushee, and Hayden Goyette won the 4x800-meter relay (8:33.15)
  • Dean Miller, Joseph Branchaud, John Davis, and Jordan Kofos placed second in the 4x100-meter relay (45.25)

Lasell University:

  • Senior Benjamin Abely placed second in the 100-meter dash (11.64)
  • Senior Kadeem Ambroise finished second in the 400-meter hurdles (59.87)
  • Junior Connor Parker was second in the discus throw (29.66m) and third in the hammer throw (30.84m)
  • Kadeem Ambroise, Nicholas Fernandes, Jordan Woodley, and Darius Vincent placed third in the 4x400-meter relay (4:00.62)

Emmanuel College:

  • Junior Matthew Steffan won the discus throw (31.90m)
  • Sophomore Luke Wiley finished third in the long jump (6.00m)
  • Sophomore Pierre Labossierre placed third in the triple jump (11.30m)
