STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and three Saint Joseph's College outdoor track & field athletes have garnered accolades.
For their efforts in the Maine State Pine Tree Classic at Bowdoin College last weekend, Sophomore Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H.) and freshman Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) have collected GNAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, while freshman Breya Whitman (Auburn, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
Dickey earned another decisive javelin victory with a throw of 56.07m (183'11"), besting his closest competitor by more than nine meters. Dickey's heave broke a six-year-old facility record at Bowdoin. The junior standout has earned the GNAC weekly award for three-consecutive reporting periods.
Monday had a solid showing at the Pine Tree Classic, competing in the high jump and the 110m hurdles. He placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.78m (5'10") and set a new program record in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.25.
Whitman finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.52m (4'11.75") and competed in the triple jump, placing ninth with a distance of 9.47m (31'1").
The SJC outdoor track & field teams will compete in the 2024 GNAC Championship, hosted by Regis College, this weekend.
