Men Win Outdoor Track & Field GNAC Championship

WESTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College men's outdoor track & field team successfully defended their place atop the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with a convincing performance in the 2024 GNAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Regis College this weekend.

The Monks tallied 283 points – the most ever in a GNAC outdoor title event – ranking up one hundred more points than runner-up Regis College, which notched 183 points in this weekend's 21-event championship. Emmanuel College finished third (74 pts), Colby Sawyer was fourth (56 pts), and Lasell College capped the five-team field with 48 points.

Saint Joseph's won 15 of the 21 events and featured 30 podium performances overall.

FOR THE RECORD:

  • Sophomore Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) with an 11.09 in the 100-meter dash and 21.91 in the 200-meter dash
  • Freshman Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) set two new program records in both the hurdle events with a 16.21 mark in the 110 hurdles and a 57.83 in the 400-hurdles
  • Freshman Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) set a new program best in the 800-meter run with a 1:58.91. Ramadan broke his previous set record in the 1500-meter run with a  4:10.68
  • Doe, Abukar, Farr, and Ricker set a new 4x100-meter relay record with a mark of 42.79 to top the field
  • Cooney, Doe, McManus, and Ramadan clocked an 8:25.01 in the 4x800 to win the event and etch their effort into the program record books

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Freshman Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) came out on top in each of his events winning the 1500-meter run (4:10.68), 800-meter run (1:58.91), and 5000-meter run (16:35.99)
  • Junior Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H.) finished first in both the Javelin (57.82m) and the Discus (35.21m)
  • Senior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) garnered a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-meter run (22.01) and 400-meter run (51.15)
  • Sophomore Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) finished runner-up in both the 10000-meter run (36:08.19) and 5000-meter run (16:42.74)
  • Freshman Jacob Schmader (Limington, Maine) finished first in the 400-meter run (50.71) and placed fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.92)
  • Junior John McManus (Shrewsbury, Mass.) finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.26
  • Junior Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) won the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:00.21 and snagged a pair of fourth place finishes in the 5,000-meter run (16:52.97) and 1500-meter run (4:24.88)
  • Senior Nick Carmosino finished first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:47.07 and finished ninth overall in the 5000-meter run (19:07.89)
  • Sophomore Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) finished first in the 200-meter run with a time of 21.91
  • Senior Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) won the Hammer Throw (37.43m), placed third in the Shot Put (11.76m), and finished tenth in the Discus (29.49m)
  • Freshman Andrew James (Bar Harbor, Maine) came out on top in the Shot Put with a new personal best of 13.14m. James also finished eighth in the Discus (31.11m) and eleventh in the Javelin (29.57m)
  • Freshman Younton Diamond Doe (Pawtucket, R.I.) won the 100-meter dash clocking in at 11.17 and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.60
  • Freshman Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) got a pair of third place finishes in both hurdles with a 16.21 mark in the 110-hurdles and a 57.83 in the 400-hurdles. Monday also placed seventh in the High Jump with a finishing height of 1.67m
  • Sophomore Seth Quinney (Northwood, N.H.) finished second in Hammer Throw with a mark of 35.65m and seventh in the Shot Put with a 11.10m throw
  • Sophomore Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) finished third in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:03.37), fourth in the 10,000-meter run (37:20.02), and eighth in the 5,000-meter run (18:53.86)
  • Freshman Matthew Corriveau (Northwood, N.H.) finished second in the Long Jump with 6.26m, fourth in the 400-meter run (53.12), sixth in the High Jump (1.72m), and seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.96
  • Junior Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) finished sixth in the Triple Jump (11.87m) and third in the 400-meter run (51.29)
  • Freshman Gehrig Hatch (South Berwick, Maine) placed fifth in the 400-hurdles with a time of 1:01.71
  • Emilson Zocolo (Lewiston, Maine) placed fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase and seventh in the 800-meter run (2:08.95)
  • Sophomore Griffin Cooney (Port Orange, Fla.) finished third in the 1500-meter run (4:20.92) and sixth in the 800-meter run (2:06.04)
  • Freshman Devonte Prom (Portland, Maine) placed seventh in both the Triple Jump (11.86m) and Long Jump (5.74m)
  • Sophomore Brayden Grant (Rochester, N.H.) finished third in the Pole Vault (2.75m) and ninth in the 800 meter run (2:11.91)
  • Freshman Tyler Wright (Chatham, Mass.) finished with a pair of sixth place finishes in the 1500-meter run (4:31.84) and 10000-meter run (40:27.57)
  • Freshman Carl Peters (Northwood, N.H.) placed sixth in the 100-meter run (11.83)
  • Sophomore Noah Batoosingh (Scarborough, Maine) finished ninth in the 200-meter (23.52)
  • Freshman Gabryel Balch (Northwood, N.H.) finished tenth in the Hammer Throw (22.85m) and fourteenth in the Discus (24.33m)
  • Freshman Harrison Fields (Gray, Maine) placed sixth in the Pole Vault (2.45m) and thirteenth in the 800-meter run (2:20.14)
  • Senior Ethan Tardif (Auburn, Maine) finished fifteenth in the 100-meter dash (12.69) and thirteenth in the 200-meter dash (25.88)
  • Freshman Christopher Godefroy (Windsor Locks, Conn.) finished sixth in the 110-hurdles (18.80) and 17th in the 200-meter dash (27.01)
  • Sophomore Alexander Greslick (Windham, Maine) finished eleventh in the Hammer Throw (19.79m), thirteenth in the Shot Put (9.15m) and fifteenth in the Discus Throw (23.13m)
  • Farr, Ricker, Doe, and Schmader won the 4x400-meter relay with a 8:21.01
