Monks Race Past Terriers, 18-6

WATERVILLE, ME – Saint Joseph’s (2-0) defeated Thomas College (0-1), 18-6, in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game on Thursday afternoon. Alyssa Marchant ’11 (Wakefield, MA) paced the Monks’ offensive effort with six goals, including the 100th marker of her career, in the one-sided contest.

Marchant became the first player in team history to reach the century mark in goals when she bested Terrier keeper Teshia Cates with her second goal of the game 3:20 into play.

Lauren Hagerman ’10 (Scarborough, ME) added four goals, while Lizzie Farley ’11 (Scarborough, ME), Amelia Santos ’12 (Beverly, MA) and Erika Waterhouse ’13 (South Portland, ME) all chipped in with two markers each for the Royal Blue. Megan Cutter ’12 (Westbrook, ME) added a goal and two assists and Vanessa Brooks ’10 (Bath, ME) capped the Monks’ list of goal scorers with her first goal of the 2010 campaign. Taylor Allison ’12 (Pawtucket, RI) made seven stops in goal for St. Joe’s.

Kiley Jolicoeur paced the hosts with three goals in the losing effort and Cates registered nine saves between the pipes for the Terriers.
