Melanson Tabbed as GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College sophomore midfielder Celia Melanson (Waterford, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Melanson led the Monks to a season-opening 19-8 victory over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday with three goals and four assists for a game-high seven points.

Melanson netted five goals with seven assists, 17 ground balls, and three caused turnovers in 16 games – including two starts – as a freshman last spring. The weekly honor is the first of her collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's will host Plymouth State University on Wednesday in a non-conference contest starting at 5:00 PM.
