Beaulieu Breaks Assists Record, Monks Motor Past Mariners, 15-4

STANDISH, Maine – Senior attack Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine) set a new team single-game record for assists to help Saint Joseph's College (2-1) topple Maine Maritime Academy (0-1), 15-4, in a non-conference women's lacrosse contest at the SJC Athletics Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Beaulieu, who dealt eight assists in today's triumph, broke the Monks' former single-game record of seven assists when she was credited with the helper on a goal from sophomore Jocelyn Moscato (West Haven, Conn.) at the 18:09 mark of the second half. Previously, the record was held by former standouts Alyssa Marchant '11 and Mary Leasure '16, who tallied seven assists versus Green Mountain (4/12/08) and University of Saint Joseph (3/14/15), respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Sophomore midfielder Molly Barr (Gorham, Maine) sandwiched a Beaulieu score in the final four minutes leading up to halftime to make it a 12-2 contest at the break.

Maintaining possession for the better part of the second stanza, the Monks received goals from Lindsey Barrow (Granby, Conn.), Moscato, and Hannah Flaherty (Waltham, Mass.) in the latter frame while Gier and senior midfielder Chloe Smedley (York, Maine) hit pay dirt for the Mariners to account for the 15-4 final score.
