Nelson Named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Madelyn Nelson (Casco, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week.

Nelson posted a 7.20 goals against average with a .600 save percentage in three SJC victories last week. The sophomore netminder essentially carried the Monks to a 10-8 victory over rival Southern Maine on Saturday by making 16 saves and added nine stops in an 11-8 triumph over UMaine-Farmington on Sunday.

In five starts this spring Nelson is 4-1 with a 9.56 goals against average and a .494 save percentage. She has allowed 43 goals and made 42 saves across 270 minutes between the pipes. The weekly conference accolade is the first of Nelson's career.

Saint Joseph's (4-1) will open GNAC play this Saturday with a 12:00 PM game at University of Saint Joseph.
