Track & Field Teams Open Season at USM

GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track and field teams kicked off the 2015-16 campaign with an appearance in the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Graduate student Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) was third in the 3000-meter (11:28.89)
  • Junior Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) placed third in the 600-meter (1:156.25)
  • Senior Riley Jones (Winslow, Maine) finished third in the 1000-meter (3:59.91)
  • Freshman Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) finished fourth in the 3000-meter (11:44.31)
  • The Monks 4x200 meter relay finished fifth with a 2:05.08 effort
  • Junior Kristina Schelling (Pelham, N.H.) was sixth in the 600-meter (2:08.89)
  • Freshman Meghan Burke placed sixth in the shot put (9.31m)
  • Freshman Kelsey Barrett (Gardiner, Maine) was seventh in the 55-meter hurdles (9.97) and eighth in the 55-meter dash (8.21)
  • Freshman Maureen Herlihy (Walpole, Mass.) raced to a seventh-place finish in the 3000-meter (12:17.75)
  • Senior Michelle Cunha (Enfield, Conn.) was seventh in the weight throw (9.35m) and 13th in the shot put (8.10m)
  • Freshman Alysha Smith (Jaffrey, N.H.) was ninth in the 55-meter dash (8.25) and 10th in the 200-meter (30.29)
  • THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
  • Sophomore Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) placed second in the shot put (10.42), fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.07), sixth in the triple jump (11.18m) and 11th in the long jump (5.37m)
  • Senior Connor Dufour (Augusta, Maine) was the runner-up in the 400-meter (55.18) and placed seventh in the 200-meter (25.24)
  • Senior Billy Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was third in the weight throw (10.23m) and ninth in the 200-meter (25.26)
  • Freshman Malcolm Gocha (Plymouth, N.H.) finished fourth in the 200-meter (24.14), eighth in the 55-meter (6.87)
  • Senior Taidghe Hagan (Reading, Mass.) placed 11th in the 1 mile run (5:02.56)
  • Sophomore Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) finished 11h in the 2 mile run (10:42.00)
  • Sophomore Cam Zaborowski (Littleton, Mass.) was 11th in the 200-meter (26.08), 14th in the long jump (4.28m) and 15th in the 55-meter (7.46)
  • Freshman James Stevens (Marshfield, Mass.) finished 15th in the long jump (3.93m) and 19th in the 55-meter (8.67)

The Monks resume action on Saturday, January 9th at University of Southern Maine.
