Goff & Waryas Claim GNAC Weekly Accolades

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College women's outdoor track & field athletes have been honored.

Junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) and freshman Maya Waryas (Bellows Falls, Vt.) have been selected as the GNAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Co-Athlete and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their performances in the Monks Invitational at Saint Joseph's on Friday and Saturday.

Goff placed second in the Heptathlon with a program-record 3,526 points, the fourth-highest total in the region and 30th-best nationally, in the Monks Invitational. Competing in the demanding event for the first time, the junior won the 200-Meter (27.24) and Long Jump (4.89m) – and set new team records in both, placed second in the 800-Meter (2:39.13) and 100-Meter Hurdles (16.47), fifth in the High Jump (1.45m), and seventh in the Shot Put (7.01m) and Javelin (13.02m).

Waryas claims her second-consecutive Rookie of the Week honor after finishing ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.57) and 21st in the 100-meter dash (14.76) in the Monks Invitational.

Goff shares the GNAC weekly honor with Colby-Sawyer College junior Ashley Keleher, who secured a first place finish in the 400-meter dash with an impressive time of 58.08 at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday.

Saint Joseph's will host the Pine Tree State Classic this Saturday at 10:00 AM.
