o STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been announced and the Saint Joseph's College men's indoor track & field program has swept the slate with three individual honorees.
Senior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) has claimed GNAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors while freshman Andrew James is the GNAC Field Athlete of the Week and first-year Younton Diamond Doe (Pawtucket, R.I.) has collected GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Farr had an impressive showing at the USM Open II to start off the new year. He earned a pair of first place finishes as he took the top spot in the 200m dash with a time of 22.86 and then was part of the Monks' 4x400m relay team that set a new program record with a 3:30.64 performance. The weekly conference honor is the fourth of Farr's career and first since February 6th, 2013.
James secured the first GNAC weekly award of his young career after posting a third place finish in the shot put at the USM Open II. He marked a 11.84m (38'10.25") to earn his top-three position.
Doe kicked off 2024 with a first place finish in the 400m dash at the USM Open II with a 53.64 effort and also ran a leg of the Monk's 4x800m relay team, which placed third with a time of 8:48.
For James and Doe, the weekly award is also a career-first.
The Monks are off to THE TRACK by New Balance for the Suffolk Invitational next week on Saturday, January 13th.
