Monks Track & Field Teams Earn GNAC All-Conference Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track & Field postseason accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College is very well represented. Senior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, junior Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, freshman Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) has earned GNAC Men's Indoor Track Rookie of the Year honors, and Abby O'Brien and Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) were selected for the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Monks' men's coaching staff, led by first-year Head Coach Mike Burleson and Associate Head Coach Tom Dann, has garnered GNAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year accolades after leading the SJC men's team to back-to-back GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Goff was a strong performer in the high jump and long jump this year, recording the top marks in the conference this year. Her long jump distance of 5.20m (17'0.75") was a New England qualifying distance and was nearly two-tenths of a meter better than any other conference competitor. At the GNAC Championships, she took home the gold in the event with a mark of 5.01m (16'5.25"). She also finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.51m (16'5.25"). Goff was also the top GNAC performer in the pentathlon with a score of 2717.

Graham was one of the premier distance runners in the GNAC this year, ranking near the top of the league in a number of races. He had an excellent performance at the GNAC Championships winning both the 3K and 5K races. He won both races comfortably, clocking in at 9:50.67 in the 3K, more than five seconds faster than his closest competitor, and finishing the 5K in 16:19.02, eight seconds ahead of second place. Graham was also second in the mile by just a second with a time of 4:42.59. He earned 30.5 points at the conference championship as he was also part of the first-place distance medley relay.

Ramadan was the best mid-distance runner this year, posting the league's best times in the 800m (1:56.42), 1000m (2:34.72), and the mile (4:33.43). He really showed off that ability at the GNAC Championships as he took first in all three events he competed in. He was the winner of the 800 with a time of 1:58.27 and the mile, clocking in at 4:41.59. Ramadan also served as the anchor leg for the GNAC Champion distance medley relay, which finished in 11:22.96. He was a New England Championship qualifier in the 800.

Farr and O'Brien had a standout season to close their senior year. Farr won the 400-Meter (49.97) and placed fourth in the 200-Meter (22.99) while O'Brien finished second in the Weight Throw with a 12.71m heave and was 10th in the Shot Put (8.83m) at this year's GNAC Championships. Both senior captains qualified for the NCAA DIII New England Regional Championship as well.

 

ALL-CONFERENCE MEN

  • Junior Ryan Graham earned three All-Conference nods after topping the field in the 3000-Meter (9:50.67) and 5000-Meter (16:19.02) events and placing second in the 1-Mile (4:42.59)
  • Sophomore Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) collected two All-Conference honors after winning the 60-Meter (7.10) and 200-Meter (22.17) events
  • Freshman Haytham Ramadan (Khartoum, Sudan) raced to top finishes in the 800-Meter (1:58.27) and 1-Mile (4:41.59) events to gain two All-Conference Honors
  • Senior Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) won the Weight Throw event with a 13.42m toss and finished third in the Shot Put (11.35m) to collect All-Conference Honors in those events
  • Freshman Andrew James (Bar Harbor, Maine) won the Shot Put with a 12.09m
  • Senior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) earned All-Conference after winning the 400-Meter (49.97)
  • Freshman Jacob Schmader (Limington, Maine) finished second in the 400-Meter (50.67) to collect All-Conference Honors
  • Freshman Younton Diamond Doe (Pawtucket, R.I.) eanerd two All-Conference Honors placing second in the 800-Meter (1:59.89) and third in the 60-Meter (7.20)Freshman Tudum Monday (Lewiston, Maine) was second in the Long Jump (6.37m) and third in the Triple Jump (12.56m) to gain two All-Conference Honors
  • Sophomore Jacob Pelletier (Augusta, Maine) gained All-Conference Honors in the 5000-Meter after finishing second with a 16:27.01 effort
  • Sophomore Alexey Seredin (Peaks Island, Maine) placed second in the 3000-Meter (9:55.83) to gain All-GNAC
  • Freshman Matthew Corriveau posted third-place finishes in the 200-Meter (22.85), High Jump (1.75m), and Long Jump (6.27m) to give him three All-Conference Honors
  • Junior Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) finished third in the 400-Meter (50.80) to earn All-GNAC Honors
  • Sophomore Seth Quinney (Northwood, N.H.) gathered an All-Conference Honor finishing third in the Weight Throw (10.95m)
  • Freshman Jonah Naratil (Porter, Maine) was third in the Pole Vault (2.95m) to earn All-GNAC
  • Abukar, Ricker, Farr and Schmader won the 4x400 Meter Relay with a 3:29.45 performance gaining All-GNAC Honors
  • Cooney, Doe, McManus and Ramadan won the Distance Medley with an 11:22.9 time to gain All-GNAC

ALL-CONFERENCE WOMEN

  • Senior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) winning the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.56) and Long Jump (5.01m) events and finishing second in the High Jump (1.51m) to record a meet-high 28 points Goff earned All-GNAC in each of her events
  • Senior Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) finished second in the Weight Throw with a 12.71m to earn her All-Conference Honors
  • Freshman Audrey Bilodeau (Lewiston, Maine) placed third in the 60-Meter Hurdles (10.23) notched an All-Conference bid with their relay effort
  • Goff, Young, Bilodeau and Smart placed third in the 4x400 Meter Relay with a 4:21.68 to earn All-GNAC
