Track & Field Fares Well at USM Invitational

GORHAM, ME – Saint Joseph's, a first-year varsity program, competed in the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Highlights from the day include a runner-up effort in the 1 mile (5:49.80) by sophomore Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) and a top finish posted by Sarah Bakun (Clinton, Mass.), who won the 400 meter dash with a 1:20.40 time and also placed 17th in the 200 meter dash (34.07) on the afternoon.

Deanna Barry (Cumberland, Maine) finished third in the pole vault event with a 2.15 meter performance, Audrey Curry (Perry, Maine) was fourth in the 800 meter run (2:48.08) and Riley Jones (Winslow, Maine) placed sixth in the 800 meter run (3:05.64).

Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine), Ashley Condon (Sumner, Maine) and Doe Leckie (Naples, Maine) notched fifth-place performances in the 600 meter run (1:51.86), 800 meter run (2:59.67) and 55 meter hurdles (9.34), respectively while Laura DiMillo (Portland, Maine) and Shannon Chisholm (Stoughton, Mass.) both competed in the shot put and placed 10th (7.01m) and 11th (6.87m).

Colby College, Husson University, Southern Maine, Rhode Island College, University of Maine-Farmington and Wheaton College also competed in the event, which did not feature team scoring.

Saint Joseph's is set to participate in the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
