SJC Women Finish Fourth in GNAC Outdoor Championship

STANDISH, Maine – The 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships were hosted at the SJC Athletics Complex on the campus of Saint Joseph's College on Sunday.

Emmanuel College edged Regis College for the women's championship, as the Saints concluded the event with 175 points and the Pride finished with 167 points. Colby-Sawyer College (119 points), Saint Joseph's (104), and Lasell University (75) rounded out the team scoring ledger.

On the men's side, Saint Joseph's claimed the title with 213 points while Regis finished second with 185 points. Colby-Sawyer (138), Lasell (56), and Emmanuel (50) rounded out the list of five competing institutions in this year's GNAC Championship.

BROKEN GNAC RECORD:

Regis senior Erin Kelley won the 10,000-meter run with a 41:21.73 time to break the former record of 44:27.45, which was set in 2019 by Emmanuel's Anna Cutrone.

Emmanuel College:

  • Sophomore Desiree Robinson won the high jump (1.47m) and placed third in the 400-meter dash (1:07.30) and long jump (4.40m) events
  • Freshman Paula Salazar won the pole vault (2.20m)
  • Sophomore Elisa D'Sa placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:17.30) and third in the 3000-meter steeplechase (13:32.12)
  • Senior Elizabeth Cameron finished second in the 10,000-meter run (42:02.06) and was third in the 1500-meter run (5:26.59) and 5000-meter run (20:29.31)
  • Freshman Tori Bettencourt placed second in the triple jump (9.68m)
  • Junior Beverly Browne was second in the pole vault (2.05m) and third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.69)
  • Freshman Tiffany Fischer placed second in the javelin throw (27.28m)
  • Sophomore Alyssa French-Graham was second in the shot put (9.77m)
  • Sophomore Naomi Obenhaus finished third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:18.75) and pole vault (1.90m) events
  • Junior Cynthia Brito was third in the triple jump (9.63m)
  • Elizabeth Cameron, Sydney Gonzalez, Desiree Robinson, and Emma Krantz won the 4x800-meter relay (10:39.57)
  • Tori Bettencourt, Desiree Robinson, Emma Krantz, and Naomi Obenhaus placed third in the 4x400-meter relay (5:01.04)

Regis College:

  • Senior Ashleigh Kelley won the 1500-meter run (5:21.55), 800-meter run (2:36.43), and 5000-meter run (19:38.14)
  • Sophomore Anastazia Copeland won the hammer throw (36.90m)
  • Junior Libby Parker finished second in the 3000-meter steeplechase (13:10.61)
  • Senior Erin Kelley won the 10,000-meter run (41:21.73) and finished as the runner-up in the 5000-meter run (19:50.21)
  • Sophomore Abigail Kilbride was third in the 100-meter dash (14.06)
  • Junior Madelyn Klein finished third in the 10,000-meter run (42:44.75)
  • Sophomore Alayja Linton placed third in the javelin throw (26.42m)
  • Freshman Pilar Brown was third in the shot put (9.45m)
  • Junior Victoria Bradley finished third in the discus throw (27.18m)
  • Lily Belschner, Oliva Dench, Abigail Kilbride, and Mikayla Francois won the 4x100-meter relay with a 54.10 effort
  • Mikayla Francois, Olivia Dench, Abigail Kilbride, and Annabelle Jean-Philippe finished second in the 4x400-meter relay (5:00.02)
  • Annabelle Jean-Philippe, Libby Parker, Katie Kelley, and Ashleigh Kelley placed second in

Colby-Sawyer College:

  • Sophomore Heather Hanson won the 3000-meter steeplechase (12:29.28)
  • Junior Ashley Keleher won the 100-meter dash (12.77), 200-meter dash (27.02), and triple jump (10.06m) events and placed second in the long jump (4.66m)
  • Freshman Kate Cochran was second in the 100-meter hurdles (17.16)
  • Sophomore Tessa Millette finished third in the 800-meter run (2:41.38)
  • Kate Cochran, Courtney Brewster, Ashley Keleher, and Anna Bieszczad finished second in the 4x100-meter relay (54.20)
  • Ashley Keleher, Courtney Larson, Chloe Makela, and Courtney Brewster won the 4x400-meter relay with a 4:47.09 performance
  • Shannon O'Connell, Samantha Carus, Courtney Larson, and Tessa Millette placed third in the 4x800-meter relay (11:01.22)

Saint Joseph's College:

  • Junior Brooklyn Goff won the 100-meter hurdles (16.87), 400-meter hurdles (1:13.68), and long jump (4.81m) events and placed second in the high jump (1.42m)
  • Freshman Taylor Garland won the discus throw (26.92m)
  • Senior Kelsey Kennedy was the runner-up in the 1500-meter run (5:23.58) and 800-meter run (2:37.34)
  • Junior Abby O'Brien finished second in the discus throw (27.73m)
  • Senior Kimberly Moulton was second in the hammer throw (36.68m)
  • Freshman Alexa Young placed second in the 400-meter dash (1:06.97)

Lasell University:

  • Sophomore Emily Vanhouten won the 400-meter dash (1:01.39) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (27.23)
  • Sophomore Jasmine DePina won the javelin throw (32.94m) and shot put (10.33m) events
  • Sophomore Hanna Babek was second in the 100-meter dash (13.67) and third in the 200-meter dash (28.77)
  • Junior Sinclair Samuels finished third in the hammer throw (35.66m)
  • Hanna Babek, Damali Waugh, Emily Varga, and Emily Vanhouten placed third in the 4x100-meter relay (55.43)
