Women Ninth at Jim Sheenan Memorial

FITCHBURG, MA - The Saint Joseph's College outdoor women's track and field team placed ninth with nine points in the Jim Sheehan Memorial at Fitchburg State University on Saturday.

Two Saint Joseph's athletes placed in the top 10 in the 5000 meter run, as sophomore Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) was eighth (19:54.38) and freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) finished 10th (19:59.27).

Sophomore Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) was 14th in the 1500 meter run (5:17.38) and sophomore Hailey Frisbee (Kittery Point, Maine) placed 11th in the javelin throw (24.18m) and finished 18th in the discus throw (21.44m) in the Monks' second outdoor meet of the year.

Junior Sarah Bakun (Clinton, Mass.) placed 20th in the 400 meter dash (1:24.73) and 22nd in the javelin throw (12.78m) while sophomore Audrey Curry (Perry, Maine) was 30th in the 800 meter run (2:53.63) and freshman Lauren Smith (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished 34th in the 800 meter run (3:00.81).

Also, the Monks' 4x100 meter relay squad placed fifth with a 1:01.07 time and the 4x400 meter relay group was seventh with a 4:47.40 performance.

Bates College won the event with 265.50 points, well ahead of runner-up Colby College, which finished with 180 points. Keene State College (120 points), Fitchburg State (69) and Colby-Sawyer College (52) rounded out the top five competing institutions.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Saturday when the team participates in the Springtime Invitational at Brown University.
