Outdoor Track & Field Competes at Springtime Invitational

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Saint Joseph's College outdoor track and field program competed in the Springtime Invitational at Brown University on Saturday.

On the women's side, sophomore Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) placed third in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:05.93) while freshman Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) finished seventh with a 12:43.81 effort in the event.

Freshman Amanda Celata (Dedham, Mass.) placed 13th in the triple jump (9.35m) and 16th in the long jump (3.88m) while sophomore Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) finished 20th in the 5000 meter run (20:11.45) and 33rd in the javelin throw (19.65m).

Other athletes competing for Saint Joseph's included sophomore Hailey Frisbee (Kittery Point, Maine), who placed 23rd in the discus throw (23.67m) and 27th in the javelin throw (23.98m), junior Sarah Bakun (Clinton, Mass.), who was 34th in the javelin throw (12.19m) and 50th in the 200 meter dash (33.30), and sophomore Audrey Curry (Perry, Maine), who placed 60th in the 800 meter run (2:49.10).

Freshmen Christina Cuscuna (Reading, Mass.), who was 60th in the 1 mile run (7:55.45), and Lauren Smith (North Kingstown, R.I.), who finished 65th in 800 meter run (3:02.34), also competed in the event for the Monks.

On the men's side, freshman Jerome Diggs (Washington, D.C.) placed ninth in the high jump (1.70m) and 18th in the long jump (5.23m), freshman Asad Dahia (Portland, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) finished 10th in the long jump (5.79m) and 11th in the high jump (1.70m), and freshman Sam Dunay (Groton, Conn.) was 12th in the 110 meter hurdles (19.18) and 19th in the long jump (5.09m).

Freshman Taidghe Hagan (Reading, Mass.) raced to a 14th-place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase (12:18.45) while first-year Billy Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was 15th in the long jump (5.34m) and 42nd in the 200 meter dash (25.33) and sophomore Robert Travers (Lebanon, Maine) placed 17th in the discus throw (12.89m) and 19th in the shot put (6.64m).

Other participants for Saint Joseph's included sophomore Jeff Merrill (Fitchburg, Mass.), who was 24th in the javelin throw (40.67m) and 47th in the 400 meter dash (1:00.99), freshman Connor Dufour (Augusta, Maine), who placed 45th in the 200 meter dash (26.35) and 58th in the 800 meter run (2:11.44), freshman Mark McCarraher (Franklin, Mass.), who was 46th in the 400 meter dash (56.48), and junior Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine), who finished 53rd in the 800 meter run (2:07.51).

Freshmen Ralph Houanche (Portland, Maine), Andrew Caron (Gardiner, Maine) and Cole Milazzo (Richmond, Vt.) all competed in the 800 meter run and placed 61st (2:19.79), 62nd (2:21.72) and 63rd (2:21.76), respectively.

Both teams return to action this Saturday, when the women compete in the Aloha Relays at Bowdoin College and the men participate in the Maine State Championships at Bates College.
