Women Place Third in Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, ME – The Saint Joseph's College women's track and field team kicked off the 2013-14 indoor season with an appearance in the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday. The Monks placed third of five teams with 19 points in the season-opener.

Four individuals combined to break five team records for the second-year NCAA program in the event. Freshman Gabby Lodge (Westbrook, Maine) set new SJC indoor marks in the 60 meter dash (9.12) and long jump (3.48m) events while junior Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine) broke the 400 meter dash (1:07.22) mark and junior Doe Leckie (Naples, Maine) set a team best in the 60 meter hurdles (9.75m). Junior Hailey Frisbee (Kittery Point, Maine) also set a new team record in the shot put with an 8.34 meter effort.

Dostie's time in the 400-meter dash was good for second place, nearly six seconds behind her twin sister Peyton Dostie of University of Southern Maine. Leckie placed third in the 60-meter hurdles event and was just .41 seconds off the winning pace.

Bowdoin won the invitational with 174 points, Southern Maine was the runner-up with 114, Maine-Farmington was fourth with 18 points and Colby College closed out the field with eight team points.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on January 11th with an appearance in the University of Southern Maine Invitational.
