Women Finish Eighth at Southern Maine

GORHAM, ME – The Saint Joseph's College women's indoor track and field team placed eighth with 22 points in the University of Southern Maine Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Four team records were broken in the meet, including a pair by freshman Gabby Lodge (Westbrook, Maine), who topped the weight throw (11.82m) and long jump (4.22m) marks and placed seventh and 17th, respectively, in the events.

Junior Heather Eaton (Lincolnville, Maine) broke the 800-meter run record with a 2:31.29 effort and combined with teammates Amber Dostie (Standish, Maine), Lauren Rabideau (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and Marisa Lundy (Merrimac, Mass.) to set the 4x800 meter relay team record with a 10:42.15 performance.

Eaton placed fourth with the record time in the 800-meter while the 4x800 quartet finished third.

Dostie was the runner-up in the 1-mile run and finished three seconds off the pace with a 5:25.07 time.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next Friday with an appearance in the Maine State Championship at USM.
