TEAM FINISHES SECOND AT STATE OF MAINE CHAMPIONSHIP

VASSALBORO, MAINE - The Saint Joseph's College golf team finished second among 13 schools at the Maine State Intercollegiate Golf Championship held at Natanis Country Club.

The Monks recorded at team score of 324 while event winner Husson College had 304. Bowdoin finished in third with a 326. Robbie Picard of Husson defeated JJ Frost of Southern Maine in a tie breaker.

Sophomores Francois Renaud (E. Middlebury, VT) and Chris Deroche (Portland, ME) led the Monks with a 77 and an 80, respectively. Freshman Andrew LeConte (York, ME) was close behind with an 81.

Rounding out the scoring for St. Joe's were freshman Matt Murray (Dexter, ME) with an 86 and junior Jeff Peterson (Naples, ME) with an 88.

Saint Joseph's College hosts the John Queenan Memorial Golf Tournament at Point Sebago in Casco, Maine on Tuesday, September 27 beginning at 11 am.
