Monks Finish Fifth in UMF Invitational

BELGRADE LAKES, ME - The Saint Joseph's Golf team finished in fifth place with 340 total strokes in the University of Maine at Farmington Invitational on Wednesday at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club. Junior Steve Sands (Westbrook, ME) paced the Monks with a score of 82 (39, 43) to finish in 12th place overall. Husson University won the event with 308 strokes.

Husson's John Ellis was the top individual medalist at 75 (37-38) followed by teammate Mike Hersey at 76 (40-36). Farmington's Douglas Jennings (Hallowell, ME) and Bowdoin's Kevin Cutter were tied for third at 77. The top five was rounded out by Husson's Kevin Byrne and Southern Maine's Ben Loss at 78.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the State of Maine Championships on September 19th and 20th at the Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro, ME.
