2010 Golf Team Awards Announced

STANDISH, ME – The 2010 Saint Joseph's College Golf team awards have been announced. Three individuals were selected to receive the Most Improved, Most Valuable and Coach's Appreciation Awards.

Ebb Walton '12 (Blue Hill, ME) is the 2010 Most Improved Player recipient. The first-year golfer competed in eight events with four top-20 efforts and a top-10 finish last fall. Walton's most impressive performance came in the first round of the GNAC Championship, held at Triggs Memorial in Rhode Island on October 30th, when he led all golfers with a 78 card after shooting a 39 on both nines.

The 2010 Most Valuable Player honor goes to Kevin Richardson '14 (Coventry, CT). Richardson, the 2010 GNAC Rookie of the Year, posted the low score for the Monks in six of seven events last fall and finished in the top 10 on four occasions. He registered four sub-80 rounds and registered a 79.5 18-hole average in his first collegiate campaign. The highlight of his season also came in the GNAC Championship, where he finished fourth overall with a 162 card and collected All Conference and top rookie honors.

Michael Patrick '11 (Wells, ME), the team's lone senior last fall, is the 2010 Coach's Appreciation Award honoree. Patrick competed in six events as a third-year player and participated in 21 tournaments with six top-20 scores in his career. A team co-captain during his senior season, Patrick provided valuable leadership for the young team and will be missed going forward.
