Richardson, Golf Team Earn Conference Honors

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf postseason honors have been released and the Saint Joseph's College program has garnered Team Sportsmanship Award accolades. The All-Conference teams have also been announced and Saint Joseph's senior Kevin Richardson (Coventry, Conn.) has claimed Second Team All-GNAC honors.

The Team Sportsmanship Award is voted upon by the head coaches of every golf program in the conference and given annually to the team which best exemplifies the principles of sportsmanship, which is one of three ideals – along with community and integrity – touted by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

Richardson claims Second Team All-GNAC honors for the second-consecutive season after finishing 10th with a 154 (77-77) card in the GNAC Championship at the Cranston Country Club in Cranston, Rhode Island on October 19th and 20th. Richardson, who earned First Team All-Conference acclaim and GNAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2010, has also been listed on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team for the second-consecutive season.

All-GNAC honors are bestowed upon each of the top-10 finishers in the GNAC Championship, with the top five earning First Team accolades and the second five collecting Second Team mention.

Other major awards were announced as well, as GNAC Championship medalist Tim Leigh (Somerset, Mass.) of Rhode Island College was selected as the Player of the Year, Brad Myers (Buxton, Maine) was chosen as the Rookie of the Year and Rhode Island College Head Coach Greg Gammell was named as the GNAC Coach of the Year.
