Caron Selected as GNAC Golfer of the Week

STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College junior Michael Caron (Gorham, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Corvais Golfer of the Week for the reporting period ending October 11th.

Caron carded a career-best 69 in the opening round of the USM Fall Classic on Sunday. The three-under-par score led the competitive field by two strokes heading into day two.

The junior captain finished the tournament atop the leaderboard with a 144 (69-75) card to claim his first medalist honor of the season and seventh of his NCAA career overall. Caron's play in the USM Fall Classic helped the Monks capture the team's sixth-consecutive victory, as Saint Joseph's has not suffered a lesser finish since placing eighth in the Bowdoin College Invitational on September 13th.

For Caron, the GNAC weekly award is his second of the season and 10th of his collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's resumes play this weekend in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, hosted by UMass.-Dartmouth at Allendale Country Club in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
