GNAC Cross Country All-Conference Honors Announced

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College senior Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine), junior Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) and sophomore Sarah Curtin (Strafford, N.H.) collected All-Conference honors by virtue of their top-14 finishes in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championship, which was held at historic Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday, October 29th. First-year Head Coach Scott Hutchinson was selected as the GNAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year – by vote of his peers – and the SJC men's program garnered GNAC Sportsmanship Team honors, an award also voted on by conference head coaches.

Shuckrow earns All-GNAC honors for the second time in his career after placing 10th with a 27:48 performance in the 8K race. The team captain placed fifth with a 28:35 time in the 2014 GNAC Championship and 11th with a 29:29 effort in the 2013 GNAC race. Last fall, battling through several injuries, Shuckrow finished 49th with a 33:40 performance.

Fisher collects his third All-Conference award in as many seasons after finishing 11th with a 27:50 effort in the 2016 championship event. Fisher placed sixth with a 28:48 time in the 2014 GNAC Championship and, as the top first-year runner, earned GNAC Rookie of the Year as well as All-GNAC honors and finished sixth with a 28:41 time in the 2015 conference race.

Curtin claims All-Conference accolades for the first time after placing eighth with a 20:19 time in the 2016 GNAC Championship. As a freshman, Curtin finished 13th with a 21:14 performance. The SJC women placed seventh with 153 points in this fall's conference race.

Hutchinson earned the 14th Coach of the Year honor of his esteemed coaching career after leading the Monks to a fourth-place finish with 108 points in the 2016 GNAC Championship. Under his watch, essentially every runner on the Monks' roster – which featured six freshmen - showed significant improvement throughout the season.
