STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic
Conference has announced that Saint Joseph's College freshman
Samantha Varrell (Portsmouth, NH)
has been named as the GNAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week.
Varrell posted a pair of double-double efforts in
the SJC Autumn Invitational September 5th and 6th. She had 17
assists and 11 digs against Green Mountain College on September 5th
and recorded 19 assists and 10 digs in the Championship match en
route to being named to the All-Tournament Team.
Through nine games this season Varrell leads St. Joe's (2-7) with
112 assists, 48 digs and a .386 attack percentage.
St. Joe's will host Husson University this evening at 7:00 PM and
will host a tri-match with GNAC counterparts Norwich University and
Emmanuel College on Saturday, September 13th.
