Rivier Clips Saint Joseph's, 3-1

NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier University (9-5, 5-2 GNAC) held off Saint Joseph's College (6-11, 3-4 GNAC), 3-1 (25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 25-18) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's volleyball action on Saturday afternoon.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Junior Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) posted seven kills with a .500 attack percentage and four service aces
  • Sophomore Nadia Sixto (Chattanooga, Tenn.) produced six kills, four aces, and a pair of solo blocks
  • Sophomore Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) delivered five kills, three aces, and 11 digs
  • Freshman Greta Mackintosh (Plymouth, Mass.) added seven kills and three digs
  • Senior Kailyn Chamberlin (Milford, N.H.) chipped in with 17 assists and nine digs
  • Senior Abby Jerome (Barrington, N.H.) contributed three aces and 17 digs

LEADERS – RIVIER:

  • Lily Sills registered 16 kills with a .556 attack percentage and two digs
  • Callie Nanos added 10 kills
  • Ryan Hicks delivered 24 assists, two aces, and 10 digs
  • Brynn Roche notched seven kill and a pair of block solos
  • Sam Driend posted six kills, four aces, and seven digs

TEAM STATS:

Rivier held the lead in kills (42-34), assists (42-31) and attack percentage (.200 / .172) while Saint Joseph's posted a 52-44 digs advantage and held the edge in digs (52-44) and blocks (9-3) in the conference contest.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the result, Saint Joseph's falls to 5-25 in the history of the series with Rivier University, a program that has won six GNAC Championships. For the Monks, today's second-set triumph was the team's first set victory over the Raiders since the 2017 campaign.

The Monks return to action on Wednesday with a GNAC match at Simmons University. Opening serve is set for 7:00 PM.
