STANDISH, ME - The St. Joe's Volleyball team collected their first victory of the season with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-16) win over Lyndon State College on Friday evening. Samantha Varrell '12 (Portsmouth, NH) notched 17 assists and five aces and teammate Jordan Pelczar '12 (Meredith, NH) posted eight aces in the three-game sweep. With the win, St. Joe's improves to 1-5 on the season while the Hornets fall to 0-1.

Katie Boccanelli '12 (Cottonwood, AL) chipped in with six kills and Karen King '12 (Scarborough, ME) added five kills. Kiersten Carbone '12 (North Reading, MA) recorded five aces and Laura Moreau '12 (Rollinsford, NH) posted five digs for St. Joe's.

For Lyndon State, Morgan Reilly '10 (Whittier, CA) had five assists and Kayla Brobst '12 (Merrimack, NH) recorded seven digs.

Green Mountain Defeats St. Joe's in Nightcap

STANDISH, ME - Green Mountain College defeated St. Joe's 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-20) to improve to 2-0 in the Saint Joseph's College Autumn Tournament and 3-0 overall. With the defeat St. Joe's falls to 1-6 on the season. In the loss, Samantha Varrell '12 (Portsmouth, NH) posted 17 assists and 11 digs to lead SJC in both statistical categories.

Katie Boccanelli '12 (Cottonwood, AL) added 10 kills, Jordan Pelczar '12 (Meredith, NH) recorded seven kills and Kaliopy Hologitas '12 (Rockland, MA) had eight digs in the loss for St. Joe's. Amanda Ruel '09 (Biddeford, ME), Kiersten Carbone '12 (North Reading, MA) and Karen King '12 (Scarborough, ME) each recorded five kills in the game.

St. Joe's will play at 10:00 AM on Saturday against the University of Maine at Machias.
