STANDISH, ME - Johnson & Wales University (23-12, 10-1 GNAC)
and Mount Ida College (16-12, 7-4) swept a pair of games from Saint
Joseph's (9-23, 2-10), 3-0, on Saturday at the Harold Alfond
Center. Mary Hoyt '11 (Rochester,
NH) led the Lady Monks with 20 digs, Jordan
Pelczar '12 (Meredith, NH) had 16 digs and senior
captain Amanda Ruel (Biddeford,
ME) pitched in with 12 digs in her last volleyball tri-match at
Saint Joseph's.
Samantha Varrell '12 (Portsmouth, NH) recorded
five aces, six kills, 10 assists and 17 digs for the day and
Katie Boccanelli '12 (Cottonwood,
AL) led the Royal Blue with six kills in the nightcap contest
against Mount Ida College. Pelczar paced the Lady
Monks with 12 digs while Kiersten
Carbone '12 (North Reading, MA) chipped in with
three kilss and seven digs in the loss to the Mustangs.
Ruel, the team's lone senior, was honored for her
contribution to the volleyball progam prior to the start of the
Mount Ida match.
