FARMINGTON, ME - Freshman Katie Boccanelli (Cottonwood, AL) notched 13 kills to lead Saint Joseph's (4-12, 0-3 GNAC) to a 3-2 (28-26, 25-18, 21-25, 18-25, 15-5) victory over Maine Farmington (1-6) on Wednesday. Jordan Pelczar '12 (Meredith, NH) recorded 15 digs and Sam Varrell '12 (Portsmouth, NH) dished out 29 assists.
After the Lady Monks won the first two sets, Farmington rallied
to tie the match at two-apiece and force a fifth set. St. Joe's
played well in the final set, recording a .421 attack percentage
with eight kills in 19 total attacks in the winning frame.
Also contributing for St. Joe's were Amanda
Ruel '09 (Biddeford, ME) with eight digs,
Kaila Schulte '12 (Rochester, NH)
with seven digs and Kiersten
Carbone '12 (North Reading, MA) with 10 digs.
Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) totaled 12 kills and 13 digs to
lead Farmington, while Jenna Rowan (Kittery, ME) collected 23 digs.
Danielle O'Brien (Calais, ME) and Emily Beebe (Bristol, RI) each
added 10 kills with Lindsay Hansen (Gorham, ME) pacing the Beavers
with 22 assists.
Saint Joseph's will host a non-conference tri-match this Saturday,
with the opening match pitting Maine-Fort Kent against the host
Lady Monks at 10:30 AM. St. Joe's will face off against
Maine-Maritime at 2:30 PM.
