Wachowiak and Hebert Honored by GNAC

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College women's volleyball players have earned accolades.

Sophomore middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has been selected as the GNAC Defensive Player of the Week and freshman setter Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, Maine) has garnered GNAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Wachowiak was phenomenal in four SJC Autumn Invitational Tournament matches over the weekend, as the sophomore middle blocker registered 44 kills and 14 solo blocks en route to claiming Tournament Most Valuable Player accolades for the tourney champion Monks. She boasted double-digit kill totals in three of the four contests and capped the tournament with eight kills and a career-high seven solo blocks in a 3-1 championship match victory over Bates College.

Hebert played a major role in helping the Monks win the 2013 SJC Autumn Invitational Tournament in Standish over the weekend. The freshman setter tallied 105 assists (7.0 assists per set) along with 29 digs, 10 kills and 10 service aces over four matches and produced 23 assists, eight digs, two aces and a pair of kills in the 3-1 invitational championship victory over Bates College on Saturday. For her efforts, she was one of three SJC players to garner All-Tournament honors.

Wachowiak, a Second Team All-GNAC selection as a freshman, leads the team in kills (62) and total blocks (21) through six matches this fall. Hebert has dealt a team-high 137 assists with 18 aces and 45 digs so far this season.
