Volleyball Set to Host Annual Dig Pink Event

STANDISH, ME – The Saint Joseph's College volleyball program will host its annual "Dig Pink" event when the Monks host the University of New England Nor'easters at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 17th.

All fans in attendance are encouraged to join the SJC volleyball team in adorning pink attire in support of the "Dig Pink" initiative, a national event held every October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month – by the Side-Out Foundation. "Dig Pink" is hosted each year by middle school, high school, and collegiate teams across the nation to help increase awareness and raise donations in support of breast cancer research.

In an effort to support admittance and all gate proceeds, as well as donations collected during the match, will go to the Side-Out Foundation, which contributes funds to organizations that serve breast cancer patients, whether it is in the form of research, medical services or compassionate support.

Also, the match versus UNE will be the Monks' final home contest of the 2013 regular season and, as is customary, the team will host Senior Night festivities prior to the start of the game. Saint Joseph's has a pair of seniors - Erica Russi (Debary, Fla.) and Holly Bannister (Cumberland, Maine) - on the roster this fall, and both players have been steady contributors in each of their four seasons. Russi and Bannister, along with their parents, family members and friends, will be honored with a brief ceremony on the court on Thursday evening.
