Wachowiak Tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for Third Time

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College senior middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has been chosen as the Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the third-consecutive reporting period.

Wachowiak enjoyed another monster week with 53 kills and 17 total blocks to help the Monks remain undefeated with an 11-0 record. The senior middle blocker belted 21 kills in a five-set win over Southern Maine on Thursday and posted seven total blocks in a sweep over Plymouth State on Tuesday. She currently ranks as the NCAA DIII leader with 1.67 blocks per match and was selected as the SJC Autumn Invitational Most Valuable Player for the tourney-champion Monks on Saturday.

Wachowiak, who became the second player in SJC volleyball history to surpass the 1,000-kill plateau in a victory over Suffolk University on September 12th, has recorded 1,057 kills and 387 total blocks (245 solo) during 103 career matches (363 sets). The weekly defensive honor is the sixth of her illustrious career.

The three-time All-GNAC honoree currently leads the conference in total blocks (47), solo blocks (31), blocks per set, points (160) and points per set (4.2) and ranks second in kills (121) and kills per set (3.18). Wachowiak is also fifth in the GNAC in hitting percentage (.320) and total attacks (256).

Saint Joseph's will host Daniel Webster College in a non-conference match slated to begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
