GNAC Tabs Thompson as GNAC Defensive Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvais weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman libero Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) has claimed GNAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Thompson registered 65 digs in three matches and 10 total sets last week. The first-year libero tallied 28 digs in a 3-0 win over Southern Maine on Thursday and added 24 digs in a four-set loss to Framingham State on Saturday.

She continues to lead the GNAC in digs (456) and per set (5.92) and broke the Monks' single-season digs record - 451, formerly held by Erica Russi '14 - in a loss at Lasell College on Monday.

So far this fall, Thompson has claimed six weekly honors, including a pair of ECAC DIII New England Rookie of the Week nods and two GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades.

Saint Joseph's (19-3, 5-1 GNAC) returns to the court on Thursday when the Monks play host to in-state rival University of New England in a 6:30 PM start.
