Wachowiak Earns Eighth GNAC Honor of the Season

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has collected GNAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Wachowiak averaged 2.91 kills and 1.36 blocks per set in a 2-1 week for the Monks. The senior middle blocker registered 14 kills and nine rejections (six solo) in a 3-2 victory over NESCAC foe Bates on Thursday and broke the Monks' single-season kills record (339) with 11 strikes - along with a .455 attack rate - in a sweep over Mount Ida on Saturday.

As of October 26th, Wachowiak remains as the GNAC leader in kills (349), kills per set (3.60), solo blocks (63), points (430.5) and points per set (4.4). She also ranks second in total blocks (100) and blocks per set (1.03) and third in hitting percentage (.360).

For Wachowiak, the weekly conference honor is her eighth of the 2015 season and the defensive accolade is her fourth of the year. In four seasons, the standout middle blocker has garnered 19 GNAC weekly awards. 

In 120 career matches (422 sets), Wachowiak has tallied 1,285 kills with a .279 attack rate and 440 total blocks (277 solo). 

Saint Joseph's travels to Biddeford on Thursday for a 6:30 PM non-conference contest versus University of New England.
