GNAC Tabs Wachowiak & Thompson Co-Player, Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Corvais weekly accolades have been announced and a pair of Saint Joseph's College volleyball players have earned honors.

Senior middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has been selected as the GNAC Offensive Co-Player of the Week and freshman libero Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) has collected GNAC Rookie of the Week honors.

Wachowiak posted 42 kills with a 4.2 kills per set average and a .394 hitting percentage in three victories last week. The senior middle blocker also posted 21 total blocks and registered 59 points over the three wins combined. Wachowiak tallied 14 kills in a 3-0 win over UNE on Thursday and totaled 28 kills in a trip-match sweep over Simmons and Maine Maritime on Saturday.

Thompson averaged 5.3 digs per set with 53 digs over 10 matches in a 3-0 week for the Monks. The sophomore libero notched 13 digs in wins over UNE and Simmons and posted 27 digs in a 3-0 win over Maine Maritime on Saturday.

Wachowiak continues to lead the conference in numerous categories, including kills (391), kills per set (3.65), solo blocks (76), total blocks (121), blocks per set (1.13), points (489.5) and points per set (4.6). The GNAC weekly honor is her ninth of the season and 20th of her esteemed collegiate career.

Thompson maintains her lead atop the GNAC's digs (609) and digs per set (5.69) statistical categories. As of November 2nd, she ranks 16th nationally in digs per set and 20th in total digs. The conference weekly honor is her sixth of the season, as the freshman standout has earned a trio of Rookie of the Week awards and three Defensive Player of the Week accolades this fall.

Saint Joseph's (26-5, 8-3 GNAC) has earned the #3 seed in the GNAC Tournament and will host #6 Simmons College in a conference quarterfinal tonight at 7:00 PM.
