Wachowiak Tabbed to Play in NEWVA Senior Classic

STANDISH, Maine - The New England Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (NEWVA) has released the 2015 Senior Classic roster and Saint Joseph's College middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) has been selected as one of 33 players from around the region to participate in the annual exhibition.

The 2015 NEWVA Senior Classic, which is sponsored by adidas and The Graphic Edge, will take place on Sunday, December 6th starting at 10:00 AM at UMass Boston starting with a skills competition followed by the all-star match. Participating student-athletes can start checking in at 9:00 AM.

Wachowiak becomes the first player in SJC volleyball history to earn a spot on a NEWVA Senior Classic roster after pacing the Monks in kills (415), kills per set (3.61), total attacks (897), attack percentage (.337), block solos (80), block assists (48), total blocks (128), blocks per set (1.11) and points (519). The three-year team captain led all Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) players in kills, kills per set, block solos, total blocks, blocks per set, points and points per set while ranking third in the league in attack percentage and fourth in total attacks.

The senior middle blocker shattered the Monks' career kills record (1,352) and capped her career as the program's all-time leader in sets (440), matches (125), kills per set (3.07), total attacks (3176), attack percentage (.277), block solos (294), block assists (174), total blocks (468) and blocks per set (1.06). Wachowiak also broke the conference record for career blocks midway through the season.

The 2015 GNAC Offensive Player of the Year and three-time First Team All-Conference honoree has claimed an astounding 37 individual honors during her collegiate career. Among the accolades Wachowiak has garnered are 18 GNAC weekly awards, four ECAC weekly honors and four All-Conference nods. She also claimed GNAC All-Tournament mention for her play in a pair of postseason matches this fall and was listed on the GNAC All-Academic squad following the 2014-15 academic year.

Wachowiak joins Emily O'Reilly (Rivier) and Kellen Tensen (Johnson & Wales) as one of three GNAC players listed on the Senior Classic roster. She is one of six players from Maine institutions to claim the honor, as she will be joined by Colby's Sarah Arvidson, Kim Donaldson and Natalie Roy and Bowdoin's Christy Jewett and Hailey Wahl in the match on December 6th.

In 2015, Wachowiak helped lead the Monks to what was one of the finest seasons in program history, as St. Joe's posted a 27-6 overall record with an 8-3 mark in conference play under the watch of sixth-year Head Coach Yamile Nolan.
