Thompson Named GNAC Libero of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Jennelle Thompson (Farmington, N.H.) has been named as the GNAC Corvais Women's Volleyball Libero of the Week.

Thompson averaged 6.53 digs per set in five matches in a 2-3 week for the Monks. The sophomore libero notched 20 or more digs in four of five matches with 34 (11.33 per set) in a three-set loss to Maine-Fort Kent on Saturday.

The 2016 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-GNAC selection currently leads the conference by a wide margin in digs per set (6.72) and ranks second in total digs (168).

No stranger to accolades as a collegiate player, Thompson collected 14 awards – including six conference weekly honors – as a freshman.

Saint Joseph's (3-4, 0-0 GNAC) will host GNAC-rival Lasell College at 11:00 AM on Saturday. The Monks also host Colby College in a 5:00 PM match on Saturday.
