ON THIS DATE - Monks Win SJC Autumn Invitational

On September 19th, 2015 the Saint Joseph's volleyball team defeated Husson University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-12), to claim the 2015 SJC Autumn Invitational Championship at the Harold Alfond Center.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The Monks swept all four matches in the round-robin tourney with wins over Eastern Nazarene and Maine-Presque Isle and an additional triumph over Husson
  • Senior middle blocker Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) recorded seven kills and three solo blocks in the Championship bout and was named as the SJC Autumn Invitational Most Valuable Player for the second time in her career
  • Junior outside hitter Victoria Huntley (Ellsworth, Maine) led all players in the tournament with a .333 hitting percentage (27 kills, 8 errors in 57 attempts) in the four matches
  • Wachowiak paced the tourney in kills (28), sophomore setter Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, Maine) led in assists (67), and freshman libero Jennelle Thompson (Rochester, N.H.) posted a tourney-high 61 digs
  • For the Monks, the SJC Autumn Invitational title was the program's fifth over a seven-year span
  • The team's two triumphs on the second day of the tournament extended the SJC win streak to 11 games
  • All SJC teams have combined to post a 23-17-2 (.548) record in games played on this date
